Welcome to
Seattle Gymnastics
Academy
&
A little about us: Seattle Gymnastics Academy, Inc. is a progressive
gymnastics program located in both Seattle and
Spokane, Washington. We are here to develop strength, skill and
character through gymnastics training. We are committed to providing
the best programs in the area in a fun and safe gym.
SGA has two facilities in the Lake City area of Seattle totaling
26,000 square feet and a 7,000 square foot facility in Spokane
(Spokane Elite Gymnastics). SGA employs around 70 people
teaching, currently, over 2,000 students everything from body
control starting with 18-month old children to progressive and
competitive gymnastics. We also proudly offer the Seattle
Preschool, a unique morning-or-afternoon program featuring
exploratory learning and movement focuses including gymnastics every day.
Our 11:30 AM- 12:45 PM Indoor
Playground is a hit among the city's 1-5 year olds as well.
All our classes run year-round.
We have three 13-week sessions (Fall, Winter, and Spring) and
one 7-week summer session that roughly parallel the Seattle and
Spokane school schedules. Children may start at any time and
pay only pro-rata charges for the session.

July 8th Indoor playground will move to our Glade gym.
The Glade gym is located at 12737 28th Ave NE Seattle, WA 98125.

Olympic Fever at SGA!!
The 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing
are almost here! We will be watching some of the Olympic Trials
and the Olympic games during snack and lunch breaks of our camps!
Don't understand the new scoring? Since the 2004 Games in Athens, a code of points
system was introduced in 2005 to replace the old scoring system
for all events. The perfect 10 as a maximum score was abolished
in favor of an open-ended system, designed to allow greater separation
of gymnasts' scores.
Here is how it works:
-One panel of judges starts from
0, adding points for required skills, difficulty and connections.
-A second panel of judges start from a 10.0, and deducts for
execution and artistry.
-The final score is determined by adding the two scores together.
A typical score under today's rules ranges from a 14 to 17 points.
The new scoring allows for the
gymnasts with the most difficult routines and the best form to
win! You can still look for the perfect ten from the execution
score. We will be keeping up with our favorite gymnasts here
at SGA. Look out for more info on TV times, special Olympic activities
at the gym and fun facts!
Do you know about
SGA's MAGIC program?
No, we're not teaching children
to pull a rabbit out of a top hat, but, rather, MAGIC is a set
of progressive gymnastic classes to improve strength, flexibility,
and skill development. MAGIC is our mantra and what we seek to
instill in each of our gymnasts:
Motivated.. Athletic..Graceful..Independent..Competitive..young
women!
In our MAGIC program we strive
to develop a love for the sport and a lifelong love of being
active. Recreational classes are lightly structured using a variety
of gymnastics equipment, with many options for exploration. The
emphasis is on movement and body awareness. In contrast, MAGIC
classes are highly structured and use workstations and team games
to emphasize strength, flexibility and body control in specific
skills. MAGIC gymnasts usually use our Glade Training facility
and SGA's Junior Olympic competitive team staff teaches the classes.
Instructors follow the formal USA Gymnastics curriculum to develop
skills in a fun, safe and exciting format.
Finally, MAGIC gymnasts get to
wear team leotards and participate in the annual MAGIC show!
MAGIC classes are for girls ages 3-8. To find out more about
this exciting program, please contact the Registrars or the Team
Director, Amy Linhardt at (206) 267-3108.
